Come paint with us in Farmington, Illinois

Diamond Point Studios, just a stone's throw from Diamond Point Road in Farmington, Illinois.

Many families migrated to our town from England, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Italy and other European countries in the late 1800s to start life anew and found employment in the deep shaft coal mines of our township. In those days, coal was referred to as "Black Diamonds".

We turned back the dusty pages of time to find inspiration from the past for the future, and therein chose Diamond Point Studios as the name of our business.

Reminiscent of artists spreading glistening diamonds across the canvas with their brushes to capture the magical qualities of sunlight.  Our art styles are built upon the principles of illumination and many Old Masters techniques from the Renaissance.

Many of the early Masters were glass painters and depended upon the participation of natural sunlight in their finished art works.  For this reason, transparent colors were often used because they allow sunlight to pass through, thus illuminating the subjects they paint.

Diamonds are reminiscent of glittering light and quality.  Hallmarks of the Renaissance Old Masters, and the foundation for our art luminous art styles.

Linda Coulter's Luminist Landscapes are based upon radiant light in a natural setting.

Coulter's famous grisaille art style allows beginner painters to achieve magnificent results similar to the Old Masters, but using Linda's playful brushwork and masterful color techniques, guided by the classic principles of illumination.

au Premiere Coup art style is the luxurious blending of rich oil colors to create magnificent designs.  Linda uses this art style for her floral painting projects.

Amanda Coulter utilizes the same principles of illumination, but uses colored pencils instead of paint and brush.  She works on a unique "dream surface" to make her art style so easy for beginners to learn and enjoy.
