2013 Coulter Art Workshop Schedule

taught at Coulter Art Cottage, Farmington, IL

A nonrefundable deposit (50% of workshop tuition) will reserve your space in class.  The balance is due upon your arrival the day of class.

Students should arrive at 8:30 am to trace the pattern on canvas and have all their supplies organized for the 9:00 painting demonstration.  Surface and art supplies are not included in tuition unless otherwise specified.

Color Village Workshop                             June 21, 22, 23

Color mastery is made easy in this fun-filled workshop. Friday, color theory foundation, color relationships, color mixing exercises. Learn how to create luminosity and color harmony. Saturday, explore the secrets of sunlight and shadow, study the colors of atmosphere to create special effects. Color and light  techniques of old masters are explained.

Sunday, Linda unveils secrets about creating optical illusions and special effects in art works. Paint is included in tuition + 2 DVDs Students bring 6 canvas panels, 3 brushes, palette knife, paper towels.  Tuition:  $149

Learn how to paint a variety of elements in this one lovely art work.  You'll focus on painting porcelain skin tones, shiny hair, soft blue eyes, satin dress with ruffle-trimmed sleeves, and a see-through fabric with gathers. A tiny necklace around her neck and a lovely pink rose in her dainty little hands.  So much to learn and enjoy in this one lovely art work.  Tuition: $75

Chardin Study                September 7 - 8, 2013

A Tribute to Jean Simeon Chardin  (1699 - 1799). The Washer Woman is the featured project this weekend.  Learn to recreate this scene with easy grisaille and pure color glazing techniques. You'll learn how to paint soft flowing fabrics, sumptuous flesh tones, old worn wooden wash tub, ladder back chair, hand dipped candles adorning the wall, etc.  Tuition: $125

This tuition includes prepped canvas and paint palette.

 Summer Farm Scene    Saturday, September 21, 2013

This workshop teaches how to paint a farm scene with distant trees and field, aged barn, grassy pasture, winding path, and a pair of cardinals perched on the fence. Paint first in grisaille, followed by color glazes, finished with opaque accents. Tuition: $99

Tuscan Fountain               October 5 - 6, 2013

Tuscan Fountain offers a  smorgasbord of valuable and exciting painting techniques.  Learn how to paint Italian balustrade, terra cotta urn with cascading flowers, wisteria, roses, and a beautiful sunlit water fountain with water in motion.  All these techniques learned in one very classy original art work. The size is 12 x 36 gallery wrap canvas. Alternate sizes: 10 x 30,  8 x 24       Tuition:  $99
