We've made it incredibly easy for our painting students in 2010. Coultermix™ Color System will be featured in all workshops and art getaways for 2010, as well as in all new DVDs and new project packets during the year. Coultermix Color System requires only 6 colors plus black and white to create "the perfect limited palette" that brings a truly easy and enjoyable painting experience to painters of any skill level. Paint PaletteAll painting workshops and painting classes begin with a squirt of each pure color along the top edge of a 12 x 16 palette. Students will learn to brush mix the custom colors as they learn to paint the project. Our color mixing techniques are easy, fast and incredibly fun when we use the Coultermix™ Color System. Oil colors are simply named red, yellow, blue, green, sienna, brown, black, white to simplify and streamline the oil painting and learning process. Acryilc Colors are simply named red, yellow, blue, green, ocra, brown, black, white to simplify and streamline the acrylic painting and learning process. Squirts of all paints and mediums needed for the project are provided on the student's rental palette for use during the class. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Official Mediums and Brush CleansersThe official oil painting medium for our art styles is Maimeri Artist Safflower Oil The official acrylic painting medium for our art styles is plain tap water. The official brush cleaner for oil painting is Baby Oil. The official brush cleaner for acrylic painting is Hand Sanitizer. Both brush cleaners are followed by a gentle soap and water bath & clear water rinse after class. NO solvents allowed in the classroom!
The Coulter 60 Second Palette is always our official graytone palette. Students begin with squirts from four tubes of paint, and they learn to mix the gray tones. There are two easy mixes and the remainder comes direct from the tubes. How easy is that!
General Painting SuppliesStudents are responsible to bring their own water container for cleaning brushes, styrofoam plate for use as a grisaille palette, their own soft paper towels, their own small plastic sack for collecting dirty paint rags, and their own plastic table cover. *The cheap one used for parties works just fine. It'll cost you under $5 and can be used many, many times for paint classes before wearing out.

Colored Pencil Art SuppliesAmanda works with a very limited amount of art supplies. Students are asked to bring a manual pencil sharpener to class. (the battery operated or electric kind breaks the pencil lead easily) Bring a few soft paper towels, a drafting or hake brush for brushing the crumbs away, a board for stabilizing the art paper while you work, and a few supplies pursuant to the pencil project being taught in class. That list will be provided with the advertisement of each pencil project. Amanda prefers Prismacolor pencils and will include a list of colors when the student registers for class. She typically used 12 to 14 colors per project in 2009.
