Getting Started with Genre Scenes

Learn
the art of painting
genre scenes to capture the nostalgic ambiance of country peasant life.
The photo
shown here is an original genre art scene by 19th Century artist, Daniel Ridgway Knight.
Through a series of studies, you'll build a
storehouse of painting techniques that are basic staples in painting genre
scenes.
A favorite historical artist was Daniel Ridgway Knight who painted ladies in
European garden settings. His painting is shown above.
This online study
course teaches how to paint the the elements of the peasant scenes in
garden settings.

Students receive source materials for the painted
exercises, however, they are also encouraged
to use their own photographs for designing original country gardens scenes.
Portions of this painting are demonstrated on DVD
for this course.
