Linda Coulter's Luminist Landscapes

Linda Coulter has merged the Hudson River School's principles of illumination with her own beautiful grisaille art style with playful brushwork and richly saturated colors to create inspirational scenes and capture the drama of the American landscape. 

Linda Coulter's Luminist Art Style is an easy painting process that features the  gentle nuances of light and shadow mingled with richly saturated colors to create natural harmony and radiant sunlight.  All this is achieved with a limited palette of 4 colors, 2 toners plus black & white. 

In these times of economic unrest and political turmoil, we turn to Linda's Lumninist Art  Study Program to find creative stress relief and lift the American spirit with new hope and inspiration as we celebrate the awesome beauty of America's landscapes.

Luminist Landscape Art Seminar in a Box

In celebration of the Hudson River artists of the 19th century, Linda Coulter has created four beautiful projects to teach you the Luminist art style.  She uses her own painting techniques, which include grisaille painting, bistre painting, pure color glazes, alla prima and opaque color accents to create these scenes.  There's lots to learn!   She has filmed two of the projects from start to finish.   The other two projects are presented with step by step photographs and written instructions.
