Luminist art is reminiscent of an artist brushing tiny diamonds across the canvas to capture radiant light.

 The Letter

This brass lantern was purchased early in Barry and Linda's marriage and has enjoyed a place on their fireplace mantle for over 40 years.

Amanda laid an old parchment letter from the Civil War era in front of the lantern on a tabletop.  Then she spotlighted the arrangement from the side to create drama for this colored pencil design.

She taught her design originally at a convention in New England to a filled classroom of 33 students, many of who were beginners in colored pencil.  With Amanda's guidance, the class finished this project in 6 hours and all were so happy with their results.

Then, Amanda was hired to teach it at Hattie D's studio at Cape Cod in November, 2009. The classroom was filled with ladies eager to learn how to do it, and they were thrilled with their results.

Now, Amanda is filming the instruction for The Letter project so our many students around the world can enjoy the techniques it features.  The Letter instruction DVD will be released for sale in February, 2010.
