Quick and Easy Shortcut to Color Harmony

Here is a photograph of the Japanese Magnolias on our tree next to our Art Cottage.

Let's say I want to make a painting from these.  The easiest way to achieve color harmony is to choose a foundation color.

Perhaps I'll choose this color for my toned canvas. 

I will draw the design on the toned canvas and I'm ready to paint a quick and easy art work.

You can see how the canvas color will flavor all other colors in the painting because I'm using transparent paint.

It will be easy to create color harmony using this method.

I'll refine the design by adding lights and darks to increase the contrast in areas where I want more contrast, and I'll include cooler and warmer versions of the colors I paint with.

I will end up with this effect through the help of the toned canvas.

This is on my list to do, so watch the "How to" DVD page.  As I paint this design I will film it so you can see how quick and easy it is to work this way.
